Summer 2018 brings yet another rotation to our Sample Twelve Pack featuring two year-round beers and two brand new beers from our Tasting Room. Created to allow our brewers the chance to experiment with new styles, recipes, ingredients and processes, the line of Tasting Room beers also gives Boulevard fans the chance to try beers that were previously only available in our Tasting Room or Beer Hall. Joining year-round favorites Unfiltered Wheat Beer and Bully! Porter will be Tasting Room American Brown Ale and DDH Citra IPA.

Our take on the well-known American Brown Ale represents a bit of a twist as our brewers chose to focus on complex layers of caramel malt accented by small percentages of flaked oats and roasted barley in the malt bill balanced by a beginning of boil hop charge of Hallertau Blanc hops. Fermented with our house Scottish yeast strain, Tasting Room American Brown Ale presents dark, fruity esters and toffee/biscuity malt in the aroma followed by sweet, toasty grain notes leading to a slightly sweet, lingering finish.

DDH Citra IPA is a double dry-hopped India Pale Ale that’s one of our latest (and tastiest) offerings in a series of rotating IPAs that visitors to our Beer Hall have fallen in love with. Skewing towards the hazy IPA category, these super hoppy beers have typically featured lower bitterness from smaller bittering hop charges with amplified hop flavor and aroma created by shifting massive hop additions to end of boil, whirlpooling and dry-hopping. Dry-hopped once during fermentation and again a couple of days later, DDH Citra IPA bursts with bright, tropical fruit aroma/flavor provided by 2.5 pounds per barrel of a blend of Citra, Topaz and Galaxy hops. A soft, slightly sweet malt base provides support with just enough contrast to make notes of pineapple, peach and mango shine.

Tasting Room – American Brown Ale and DDH Citra IPA will be available exclusively in our Sample Twelve pack and on draft in the Beer Hall in our Tours & Rec Center. A few kegs might make it out for special events and festivals, but you should not expect to see these beers as a regular draft in bars and restaurants.
