You are cordially invited to join us on May 19th at 6:30pm for the first meeting of the Boulevard Brewing Company Society for Fancy Eating and Drinking. We invite KC’s most innovative chefs to cook in our kitchen for one night only, challenging them to utilize specific ingredients to create unique dishes designed to pair perfectly with different beers from our vast portfolio. We use beers from the cellar, beers new to the market and classic beers that you know and love. Our inaugural meeting will feature local chef and badass Katee McLean of beloved local Scandinavian restaurant Krokstrom. Katee loves beer and loves a challenge and we cannot wait to see what dishes she comes up with. Three courses will feature the following special ingredients and beer pairings:
1. Unfiltered Wheat Beer + Kansas City Canning Co. Clementine Thyme Jam
2. Grainstorm Black Rye IPA + Ski Queen Gjetost Cheese
3. Rye on Rye on Rye on Rye + Luxardo Cherries
A little about Katee
As a child, Katee would spend time baking potato bread with her father and hearing stories of the family's meat market in rural Kansas. She began working in local restaurants in high school eventually enrolling in the culinary program at Johnson County Community College. She spent time as Sous Chef for PB&J Restaurants before deciding to go back to her Scandinavian roots to open Krokstrom. Celebrating Scandinavian traditions, and the home-style cuisine of her family. There is nothing Katee enjoys more than sharing stories with her guests about the recipes and traditions of Scandinavia and how they came to be.
