On July 24th, 2021 one of the Kansas City Royals perennial stars Alex Gordon celebrated his 14-year career with a retirement ceremony at the K. As the official craft beer of the Kansas City Royals we felt it was only right to honor, surprise, and celebrate Alex with the unveiling of Gordo's Golden Ale. A beer that is classic, hardworking, balanced, and refreshing is something we felt was a beer not only baseball fans would enjoy, but Alex himself.
About the Beer
Featuring European pilsner malt and malted wheat, Gordo's Golden Ale is bittered with Magnum hops and features herbal, woody, and spicy notes with additions of Tradition, Saaz, and Saphir. Golden in color, the aroma is of bready malt with a slightly citrusy hop character. Gordo's Golden Ale delivers a honey-like malt sweetness that gives way to a crisp clean finish with a touch of herbal hop flavor.
ABV: 4.6% IBU: 18
Distribution and Release
For the remainder of the 2021 season, you'll find Gordo's Golden Ale exclusively on draft around Kauffman Stadium and in our Tours & Rec Center Beer Hall. In the spring of 2022, the beer will make a much larger splash in the market, being produced in 6-packs of 12oz cans in addition to draft. At this time we don't have details on specific locations or retailers, but expect to find it throughout much of the Midwest Region. As the release in 2022 arrives we'll continue to share more exciting details about this release!
Thank you, Alex, for 14 years of your heart, soul, and talent. This city will never forget those amazing playoff runs, championship, and of course, your signature diving catches capped off with a smile.
