Crown Town Ale FAQ

Category: Beer News

With the release of Crown Town Ale beginning this week, we’ve seen a lot of questions from beer fans regarding the ins and outs of this highly anticipated release. Deliveries of kegs begin on December 14th with bottles beginning to arrive on December 15th. Please note that deliveries will continue over the next week or so with each location receiving Crown Town Ale on their normal delivery day.

Will Crown Town Ale be available for purchase at the brewery?

We have a special Thirsty Thursday event planned for Thursday, December 17th from 4 pm to 7 pm. During that time, we’ll have bottles of Crown Town Ale available for purchase on a first come first served basis with a bottle limit of two per person.

During this event, we’ll also have Crown Town Ale on draft with a limited supply of commemorative glasses available for purchase. Please see our event page on Facebook or CraftBeer.com for more information.

When will Crown Town Ale be available at my favorite liquor store or bar?

Due to the nature of three-tier distribution, we sell our beer to third party distributors who are responsible for the sale and delivery of our beers. We work very closely with our distributor partners, but unfortunately, we do not have access to their delivery schedules and are unable to confirm when Crown Town Ale will be on shelves or on tap near you. Your best bet is to call your usual spot to see if they know if/when they will receive Crown Town Ale.

Which cities will see Crown Town Ale?

The following areas will see deliveries of Crown Town Ale in both kegs and bottles with exceptions as noted.

Missouri:
Greater Kansas City Area
Columbia
Jefferson City
Sedalia
Springfield
St. Joseph (bottles only)

Kansas:

Greater Kansas City Area
Lawrence
Salina (bottles only)
Topeka
Wichita (bottles only)

Iowa:
Des Moines
Cedar Rapids
Iowa City (kegs only)

Nebraska:
Lincoln
Omaha

Why isn’t my city listed?

Adding a special release beer to an already packed production schedule can prove challenging as it’s very important to avoid disrupting the brewing of our other year-round and seasonal beers, many of which are scheduled months in advance. We brewed as much Crown Town Ale as we possibly could without upsetting this balance. For this reason, we felt it was very important to keep the lion’s share of the beer in the Greater Kansas City Area while sending a portion of the beer to surrounding cities that have a high concentration of both baseball and Boulevard fans.

Who determines the price of limited release beers?

While we determine the price we charge to our distribution partners, Boulevard Brewing Company, by law, has zero influence when it comes to pricing at the retail level. The price that each store or bar/restaurant charges is determined by the management at that particular location.

What can you tell us about bottle limits?

As with pricing, Boulevard has no influence over bottle limits set at the retail level. For this reason, we’d like to politely remind beer drinkers that Crown Town Ale is a beer that’s meant to be consumed fresh and enjoyed with friends. Please do not purchase more bottles than you can drink in a reasonable amount of time so that as many people as possible have the opportunity to share this celebratory beer.
