Second Quarter 2014 Charities

 

10% for KCBoulevard Brewing Company is proud to call Kansas City home. Its rich brewing heritage inspires us, and hometown support sustains us. Now we return the favor by donating a full 10% of local sales of KC Pils to hometown charities.

This commitment allows Boulevard to elevate the financial assistance we can provide to Kansas City organizations that support us by making our hometown a better place to live. Beginning in June, three charities selected from a pool of nominated 501(c)(3) organizations will be chosen to receive a portion of KC Pils sales proceeds for each quarter. Selected nonprofits will have a few months to help spread the word about the program, then consumers will have ten days to vote online for which organization should receive 60 percent of the available funds. The remaining two charities will each collect 20 percent of the donation for that period. The process will repeat itself every three months.

How do you choose what charities are going to participate?
We will invite everyone to nominate their favorite organization for consideration to participate. Each quarter, several employees from Boulevard and one from Ripple Glass will review the nomination forms and narrow it down to three. We will keep all groups that were not selected on file for future consideration.

Why was Boulevard Pilsner changed for this program?
Boulevard Pilsner was originally created and branded as homage to the great brewing tradition in our hometown. Through its rebrand to KC Pils, the lager echoes the same local pride, presented in a new, more visible and memorable way that clearly explains our mission to give back to the community on its label. The updated packaging brings the pilsner back into the Boulevard core family, using the same bottles and closed box format that we utilize for beers such as Unfiltered Wheat Beer, Single-Wide I.P.A., and Pale Ale.

Will KC Pils taste different than Boulevard Pilsner?
Besides subtle changes in the hop character, the recipe from our gold medal winning Boulevard Pilsner was largely unchanged for the new KC Pils.

If the charity I nominate isn’t chosen, will Boulevard help them some other way?
From day one our founder, John McDonald, has been committed to demonstrating our support and devotion to the local community. Boulevard donates beer to hundreds of local organizations for fundraisers throughout the year and provides merchandise and brewery space as auction items on an ongoing basis. If a non-profit you know has an upcoming event, they can request support here.
