Blonde Ale and Red IPA

Spring 2015 sees the fourth rotation in our Sample Twelve pack featuring two year-round beers and two Tasting Room beers. Created to allow our brewers the chance to experiment with new styles and recipes, the line of Tasting Room beers also gives Boulevard fans the chance to try beers that were previously only available in our Tasting Room.

The first new beer is Tasting Room – Blonde Ale. At 5.8% ABV and 24 IBUs, our blonde ale features subtle malt sweetness from the use of pale and honey malts with citrusy/spicy notes provided by Lemondrop, Saphir and Northern Brewer hops. Brewed to be a thirst quenching beer worthy of everyday drinking, Tasting Room – Blonde Ale also features an addition of orange peel in the last few minutes of the boil to accentuate the citrus/fruit notes of the hops.

Our latest experiment with IPA variants, Tasting Room – Red IPA features dank, punchy, fruity notes from late hopping with Chinook, Simcoe, Equinox and 6300. Dry-hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo and Citra, our red IPA is 5.8% ABV and 75 IBUs. For inspiration on the malt bill, our brewing team took cues from Irish Ale and chose Cara 120, Cara 300, Munich, Amber and Chocolate malts to complement our base pale malt. The blend of hops provides complex, fruity notes to offset the blend of malts.

Tasting Room – Blonde Ale and Red IPA are available exclusively in our Sample Twelve pack and on draft in the Tasting Room at our brewery. A few kegs might make it out for special events and festivals, but you shouldn’t expect to see these beers as a regular draft in bars and restaurants.

As always with our Tasting Room beers, we’re interested in hearing what you have to say. Drink these beers and provide feedback.
